Students are not required to wear Standard School Attire at A. Z. Kelley Elementary School, although they may do so if they choose.
Permitted Items
- Shirts that cover the midriff
- Skirts, shorts, skorts, dresses, etc. that extend below the fingertips
- Lightweight jackets and sweaters
- Leggings worn under a skirt or dress
- Appropriate footwear
- Sandals are allowed but must have a strap around the heel for safety
- Tennis shoes must be worn for Physical Education classes
- Purses the size of a half-sheet of paper or smaller—backpacks and large purses must remain in cubbies
- Sweatpants and jogger pants
- Jeans
Nonpermitted Items
- No halter tops, spaghetti straps, or tank tops
- See-through clothing (other than tights under a dress)
- Heavy/winter coats or hoodies (must be placed in cubbies/locker)
- Leggings or spandex materials without a dress or skirt that extends below the fingertips
- Hats, sweatbands, bandanas, or noise-making headwear
- House shoes
- Flip flops, slides, or other shoes without a strap around the heel
- Clothing with rips or tears
- Pajamas or sleepwear
- Clothing that advertises substances illegal for children (e.g., violence, drugs, alcohol, tobacco products) or is offensive or inappropriate (e.g., profanity)
